Language.
Inupiat is plural; Inupiaq is singular. The Inupiaq language is spoken throughout much of northern Alaska and is closely related to the Canadian Inuit dialects and the Greenlandic dialects. Alaskan Inupiaq includes two major dialect groups: North Alaskan Inupiaq and Seward Peninsula Inupiaq. Traditionally, children were spoken to in their language and were taught at a very young age. The Inuit preferred to be quite; this was the correct way. To be loud, and disciplining was considered disrespectful and inappropriate. A spanking, however, when necessary was more favorable.
